Ocean Beaches - The beach is America's favorite getaway. In Washington, Ocean Shores is the state's most visited seaside destination. And no wonder, with six miles of wide-open public sandy beaches which extend north of Ocean Shores for more than thirty miles. The beaches are popular for clamming (in season), jetty and surf fishing, whale watching, seashell and driftwood collecting, flying kites, watching the sunset, and horseback riding. The all-time favorite activity enjoyed by both visitors and local residents, is simply walking the beach. Ocean Shores features five beach approach roads so, no matter what time of year you visit, you will most likely find a secluded section of beach you can call all your own. Our goal is to make sure you have the best coastal experience possible, so please stop by our office for a free tide table and a map to help you explore our community.

Boating - Did you know that Ocean Shores is home to more than 23 miles of fresh water lakes and canals? Duck Lake is incredibly scenic and provides a variety of activities including some of Washington's best fishing, water skiing, or just exploration of the lake and canal system. The canal system meanders throughout the Ocean Shores peninsula and is best viewed by canoe or small boat. You'll see plenty of wildlife, beautiful canal and lank-front homes, and scenic vistas. If you bring a boat, the city has two boat ramps and parking located at North Bay Park and Chinook Park. For information on renting a boat, please contact Ocean Shores Electric Boat Company at 360-289-0487.

Bowling - Make a night of it at Shores Bowl! They offer great lanes, shoe and ball rental. While you¿re there, play a game of pool, grab something to eat at the snack bar, or enjoy a drink. Join them Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 pm to Midnight for Rock n¿ Bowl! For more information call Shores Bowl 360-289-9356.

Clam Digging - Fun to dig, better to eat! A very popular pastime and a great sport for those willing to get their arms wet. The reward is a meal of the Northwest's finest razor clams. Digging is allowed only during specified clam seasons which are sporadic. A license is required. Call the Chamber of Commerce at 360-289-2451 for seasons and license information.

Day Trips from Ocean Shores - While there is plenty to keep everyone entertained in beautiful Ocean Shores, it also provides the perfect location to act as a ¿home base¿ for day trips to explore the rest of the magnificent Washington coast. Passenger ferry service between Ocean Shores and Westport is available on weekends during spring and fall months, and daily during the summer. The 71 passenger El Matador (above) departs from the Ocean Shores marina every hour and a half. The 20 minute crossing is always entertaining and delightful.

Grayland  is approximately 45 miles from Ocean Shores (1 hour drive) and is close to Westport along the South Beach area of Grays Harbor. Nearly 150 years ago, Finnish farmers brought cranberries to the Grayland area which is now home to more than 80 cranberry growers and a thousand acres of "the little red jewel." Blossom time in late June and harvest in late September and October provide a spectacular show of color. Tours of the bogs are available during the annual Cranberry Harvest Festival in October. A visit to the Historic Grayland Community Hall is a must, especially for the annual Driftwood Show and the bi-annual Grayland Players productions. Only 45 minutes north of Ocean Shores you'll find some of the most beautiful country on earth. In fact, there are only a few temperate rain forests in North America, and three of them (Hoh, Queets and Quinault) are part of the Olympic National Park.

The historic Lake Quinault Lodge (worth the trip in itself) sits on the serene shores of Quinault Lake and offers excellent dining with fabulous views of the lake.

The North Beach area includes Ocean Shores, then extends north along Highway 109 for nearly 35 miles. Along the way visitors will pass through the towns of Ocean City, Copalis Beach, Pacific Beach, Moclips and Taholah on the Quinault Indian Reservation. Some of the most spectacular beaches on the West Coast can be found in the North Beach area. For more information, please contact Grays Harbor Tourism at 800-621-9625. Dining -
